Haubstadt, IN - August 15, 2018 -  The Hoosier Tire Midwest Sprint Car Series will be racing at the Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville, IN, this Saturday night August 18th.  The RETURN TO PUTNAMVILLE has become one of those pivotal events.  A number of the drivers will be at a more familiar track.  The purse is higher with $3,000 going to the feature winner.  In addition this race will complete the schedule for the series in the month of August.

There are just four races left on the 2018 season schedule.  Following this event MSCS will be racing just twice in September and only once in October.   All three of those closers will be at Tri-State Speedway.

Lincoln Park Speedway has held an August MSCS sanctioned event since 2011.  The series has appeared on Joe Spiker’s track schedule over 20 times in the last seven seasons.  Drivers following the series always encounter a formable band of LPS Saturday night regulars who are always contenders for the  win.  Some terrific racing results on the 5/16th mile high banked oval.

MSCS last raced at Lincoln Park Speedway on July 7th this year.  The winner that night was Justin Grant.  Grant was in competition with MSCS this past Sunday at Terre Haute.  He won his heat and finished in the top ten in the feature.  Robert Ballou won that night’s feature.  Ballou was second the night before in the Hoosier Sprint Nationals to speedster C.J. Leary.  It was Leary’s second win with MSCS this season!

Tyler Thomas and A.J. Hopkins have won the last two August “Return to” events at Lincoln Park Speedway.  Other previous “Return to Putnamville” winners include Brady Short (twice), Robert Ballou, Kyle Cummins, and Casey Shuman.

The current MSCS season points standings have once again changed.  Carson Short, of Marion, IL, continues as the leader.  He is in quest of his first series title.  Brandon Mattox and Donny Brackett are in a back and forth battle for second.  Top ten drivers Robert Ballou and Collin Ambrose have both moved up in the standings.  Both have race night hard charger awards.

Rookie Eric Perrott of Paris, IL, sits just outside the top ten in the standings.  Two of last year’s Rookie class have stepped up this season.  Garrett Aitken and Stephen Schnapf are 7th and 9th respectively in points.  Schnapf has a feature win.  Aitkin has three top five feature finishes.  Another driver moving up in the standings after a late start this season is Daron Clayton.  The Modern Day Cowboy has moved up to 20th in points and has not finished out of the top ten yet!
